I just got back from SaaSFest 2016, a conference put on by Price Intelligently dedicated to all things SaaS. One of my favorite talks was from Reforge CEO Brian Balfour on how companies get dangerously fixated on the idea of product/market fit.
Product/market fit is a helpful framework for startups because it aligns what they're building (product) with what their customers need (market). The problem, as Brian pointed out, is that they end up hyper-focusing on product and market on separate fronts and lose sight of the bigger picture.
Check out the slide deck from his presentation and learn how to move past product/market fit tunnel vision. It walks you through the four different “fits” you need to maintain to build a $100 million dollar SaaS business, along with real examples from Brian's time at HubSpot.
