Early Access Can Be Used Beyond Your First Release
When first releasing a product you'll probably start by setuping up a landing page that asks people for their email address in exchange for early access to your product. It's an effective tactic that can get you a large group of potential customers before you're ready for them to pay.
This same tactic can also be used when you have new features you'd like to release for your existing product. At the earliest phases of creating the new feature just send an email asking your existing customers if they'd like to try something early and also give their feedback. It'll make them happier. It can also help you validate that the feature is useful before you fully release it to all your existing and new customers.
